Here's another one in the style of the one on the cover of the latest Fine Woodworking.
I like making these, pretty easy with plenty of room to "cover" up your mistakes.
The "sliding" lid does not have to be to perfect tolerances, and any problems with the miters can be "fudged" when you cut the bevels on the sides.
One problem with the way the sides were made in the FW mag is that it is hard to rout or cut the sides to accept the sliding lid. I do it the easy way, with inserts; less of a chance of errors !!
Same old cheap cherry for the frame, lid is Goncalo Aves with a bubinga inlay, and as you can plainly see, the dividers are in my style of "curvy".
Danish all over, then spray on poly on the lid, and waxed all over. I put one coat of spray on every day for about 4-5 days to get a nice shine
