Wood ID

A while back, fellow creeker Doug Swanson and I were able to get some wood from a lot that was being cleared near Doug's house. This is one I picked up and I'm not sure if the is elm. Any ideas? This piece is only about 4 inches wide below the crotch.

Kind of looks like Oriental or Chinese Elm. A lot of it grows wild or just seems to pop up around the Twin Cities.

It was growing wild in a lot that was being cleared for Senior Apartments. I'm thinking it is elm too.

I have so many elm trees around my house you would not believe it. I have the chainsaw out all the time cutting a down limb after a storm. They look EXACTLY like your photo.
