This was tonight's project. Haven't been in the shop since Sunday and I needed a quick fix. This came from a little branch stump that I trimmed off the log when I cut it up this weekend, something that would normally go right to the scrap pile, but only having the one little log I saved everything that was remotely turnable.
After I squared up the ends I was left with a 3" long piece, just enough to turn a couple tenons on the end and have something in between to turn.
It's about 2" x 2" with a coat of DO.

Kathy,

That is a really neat little box and a really cool piece of wood.

Now, that is just cute!! I am curious - how did you go half a week without turning and retain your sanity???? For a lady that turns 6-8 hours a day, that is a lifetime!

the almond is quite appealing..gives it a rustic look.

Neat looking little box Kathy. I just had cataract surgery and the Dr. says stay out of the dusty shop for a week so I too am in need of a "FIX". Nice job using the whole tree.

Thanks everyone!
I know it's just a little box, but I thought it was cool to get so much color and grain from a little 2 1/2" branch.
