Bruno had posted a query looking for vintage dividers, and I believe he scored something nice. However, what about this pair? Saw them when they were first offered, but hadn't really remembered them until now. http://www.leevalley.com/US/garden/page.aspx?p=63134&cat=2,40725,45454

Nice price, and attractive to boot.

I have a set of those, and also numerous other dividers. They are very, very pretty and I really enjoy the opening mechanism, but there's nothing to hold your setting, which can be an issue.

Graham, does the screw offer any tightening ability? Is that a method to apply tension?

I suppose it could be, but brass can't take a heck of a lot of tension and that design isn't ideal. I think they're great for transferring dimensions but as soon as you put them down you can't trust them any more.

Yeah, but the Royal Navy brass number sure is pretty.
