Anyone here been to one of the TechShops and can give insight as to their opinion of the place?

Hey Pete,

I've been to the TechShop in Raleigh and was fairly impressed with it. Before I bought my laser, I took their class of laser saftey and usage. That alone really helped me get up to speed on how lasers worked. I've taken a few other classes on various subjects (mostly metalworking) and have enjoyed all of them. I think their prices for the classes and membership are reasonable, but since I have almost complete workshop at home, it's hard for me to justify it month to month. I wish they had an option for purchasing blocks of time. That would be really helpful in those instances where I need access to a tool I don't own.

If I didn't already own my own laser, CNC, and most of the standard woodshop tools (tablesaw, bandsaw, etc.), TechShop would be a heck of a deal. You should be able to get a tour of the place and/or take some classes without having a membership - that's what I did.
