So I haven't posted anything in long time, though I relentlessly lurk. Anyway, got my act together to re-turn this maple blank that had been drying under anchorseal for more than a year. It's from a local tree that grew curbside by a church two blocks from my house. The county crews had taken down several trees in the neghborhood and left chunks by the curb to pick up later. I saved 'em a bit of work by rolling the bit that became this bowl into the back of my truck. ;-) Something especially nice about using local wood. About 13 x 5.5". Walnut oil and beeswax. Thanks for looking.

Nice clean curve on this one, Sean! Very interesting beaded rim, too. Not only local and free wood, but it has nice color and a bit of figure.

You have been gone for awhile...this one is a great "Hey...turn this" kinda thing! Get on it and turn!

That is a very attractive bowl. I like the wood, just enough character to make it interesting. I also like the rim treatment and the thickness of it.

Thank you, John, Jim, and Bill.

It's simple, but that seems to be what I'm drawn to make. I love looking at all the intricate and creative stuff here.

Pretty and useful is my favorite combination for a bowl Sean. Free and local is a combination I rather enjoy as well. It's like you knew the bowl before it was a bowl.:)

Now that is a handsome bowl! I too like the rim bead, and the light color makes it look fresh - just right for those apples!
