The large Cherry bowl I posted last week or the week before finally got done, 16" across 10" deep. It has 3 coats of gloss Arm-r-seal cut back with maroon then white scotch brite. Buffed with Beale rouge and wax then hand waxed with 2 coats of Ren wax. The rusted junk you see is what came out of the bowls ( this is a core from the thin one) the inside of this one was trash after digging out all the steel.22418822418922419022419122419222419322419422 4195 All the dark areas have been filled with coffee grounds. This thing was filled with holes I probably should have put it out to burn but whats a couple weeks of work. The LOML really likes it and is going to use it as a dough bowl to raise bread dough.

WOW! That's a whopper of a bowl, that 16 X 10! Nice job on the coring. Did you tools happen to catch on any of that steel?

That is a great looking bowl. I wondered the same thing if any of the steel was hit? Great popcorn bowl for sure.

My McN coring blade tip got it pretty good. I hit that shiney spot in the bottom with my DT 5/8s BG didn't do much damage.I thought I had it all out when I found that one in the bottom .

Big bowl Harry! I would love to turn a piece of cherry that size. Minus the nails!:)

Nice work, Harry! I haven't yet experienced unwanted metal in my turnings but we should all be vigil. Another item on my buy list has always been a metal detector. They're cheap enough and sometimes when roughing a bowl I take really big cuts.
