Spline Box made from Maple. Airbrushed a red / yellow fade with iridescent pearl Maple leaves that fade or appear depending on the angle they are viewed from. Around 4.5" (11cm) tall. Finished with EM6000 waterborne lacquer.

My second attempt at a spline box, this one went a bit better.

Charlie - I don't know if this is the method John Beaver uses. These are a much simpler problem to solve then he has to deal with. In my case I am using 3"x3" square stock, turn a tenon at each end, keeping the rest still square, then run through bandsaw to form the curve. John Beaver has a much bigger piece of wood and not necessarily starting off square. I suspect that he has had to become quite creative in safely holding the work while cutting the curve.
