This is officially the tallest piece I've turned to date. It stands 19" tall.
I like some parts of this one better than the last, but there are also things I could have done better.
I'm not happy with the curve to the bottom, and once I got it all put together I noticed I should have put the bead detail on the stem a little higher, but overall it's not bad. The stem is more of the goncalo alves with an olive bead.
It's finished with danish oil and about 4 coats of WOP, and it still needs a buff and some ren wax.

Here's a group shot including the one I did a few weeks ago and one I did last year.

Those are great Cathy! I like how your stems have evolved. I think I like the thinness of the base of the one in the center the most. I've got a couple of pieces of olive wood, I've been staring at for awhile, sure is pretty stuff :)

Edited to add: On second inspection I really like all of them, they are all different, but their respective components fit each other very well. So they are all my favorite LOL

Kathy, you continually challenge yourself!! Great quality, BTW.

While I am not a big fan of the "super slender" long pedestal stems, you do nice work. The technical accomplishments here are significant. No one can doubt your turning abilities, and that is for certain!

I logged on this morning to see what you had turned this time and WOW. It is very impressive with both technical difficulty and artistic beauty.

Some nice work Kathy. Looks like the beginning of a full service set. 5 more and you can set a full table service.

Kathy,
Those are award winners for sure. Turning those ling thin pieces must have taken a pot of practice. The design is very pleasing and you should be quite proud.

Quite impressive on the height Kathy. I think each one of these is becoming more and more refined.

Thanks everyone!
None of them are quite right, but I think I'm getting closer. I do see improvement with each one, now if I could just design the transitions a little better.
