The Fedex man delivered these two Glaser gouges today for my birthday. It was a surprise. Big time! I had wanted a couple more so that I wouldn't have to regrind the edges when doing the interior of bowls and such. I had no idea my kids were so devious as to ask me questions about woodturning and then turn around and call Paulo to place an order. The gouges are from my two sons and my future DIL.

Another pleasant surprise was the new coating that protects the metal. My other Glasers didn't have it when I bought them. Apparently, GlaserHiTec innovates.

Thanks for looking.

Harvey,
what a great present. And I see Paulo went the extra mile and and engraved that lovely message on there for you. By far one of the nicest things I've seen on a turning tool. I'd have to show them off all the time. plus the 15v steel is some of the best I've ever used. My favorite gouge for my bigger turning is a 15v Glaser 5/8 bowl gouge. The Thompson comes in a close second, being a U shaped 5/8. I can't quite tell from the pic but what is the flute shape on those. They look a little different than mine(mine being of the older Glaser brand).
Again, Congratulations!!!

Now this is more like it. More Glaser posts. Those are very nice. I got my new 15V and love it. Paulo told me that i was the first to get the new 15V metal and was honored. Glaser makes excellent tools by far. definitly top quality.

The 15V 5/8 is definitely my go to gouge. I think you're gonna love those bad boys. I wish you could have been there with me to see the future of turning tools. It may seem impossible but......It's just gonna get better my friend. Can't wait to see what you turn with them.

Good kids! You trained them well. My 5/8" 15V is also my favorite Glaser tool. I have a few others and love them all but I find the 5/8" in my hands a lot. Happy Birthday and many more.........years and Glasers.

Happy Brithday!! My son's is on the 13th as well. Nice looking gouges and a great surprise. My 15v has a different finish on it, similar to the handle and the black coating.

Thank you, Steve, and to all who took the time to "share" my 60th birthday. It only comes once in a lifetime!;)

Evan as I stop to check in here, I've got a HF cooking on the lathe with my other birthday present to myself, the Kobra. Between my Glasers and the Kobra, it's been a great Birthday!

Thank you all!

Thanks, Baxter! Well, not really, but it sure helped. I've started using the Kobra and plan to do a tool review soon. Initial impression: It's awsome!!
