I was thinking about getting a backup laser and I wanted low-cost and if it could work without electricity, that would be a bonus. So I found this (The Sun Cutter Project by Markus Kayser):

The video is painfully slow........

Steve

If you want to know how old that technology is consider that it was the method I, and many before me, used to burn our name in our leather ball gloves. I think I was 14 at the time so that was 61 years ago. We used a simple 39 cent magnifying glass.

I just did a glove for a major league player with the laser and thought to myself that the old way was better. Of course his glove cost $345.00 mine was a bit less than that.

But think of the benefits: no exhaust system, no noise suppression needed, totally portable, no table size restrictions....

Steve, actually there is a solution. That is if you have a steady hand......

I have been tempted to make one of these for some time.
