This is my submission for the AAW "Walk in the Woods" show. (Wanted to share it here)

3 x 7 (approx) Redwood Burl and Stones. I still have a little detail work and one or two more coats of finish.

The short description is: the stones creating a path through the Redwood, much like walking on the granite and stone through the real Redwood trees in the California Sierra Nevada Mountains.

If you didn't say they were rocks, I would have thought you used marshmallows or rice krispie bars instead.

Beautiful piece! I love the way the light plays with the stones and the translucent areas of the redwood… Reminds me a bit of the sunlight streaking through the trees.

Great piece, John. I love the way you interpreted the theme while still maintaining your signature style. I think it works very well.

Okay, it might just be me, but I think if you rotated the bowl counterclockwise about 15-20 degrees and photographed it again, I would not see a big toothy grin! Seriously though, I really like the combination of stone and wood. The translucent portions of the wood are captivating.
