Well looking online for inspiration of wooden toys to build I came across tegu blocks. Here is a video http://www.tegu.com/ does anyone have any ideas on how they make them. The magnets are hidden inside and it doesn't look like the blocks have been cut and glued back together so each face has a magnet.

those are neat... my 3yr old and 5yr old would love them!

If I had to guess, they used the highly magnetic rare earth magnets. I also guess that they either saw or split the pieces and then route out a recess to hold just a single magnet inside (vs one per face). If you split the wood, you could end up with a nearly invisible seam when its glued back together.

Thanks for pointing those out!

Andy that is kind of what I had thought but magnets powerful enough to do that with one single magnet per block are over $1 each. I am now thinking that they split it like you say but then mount 6 magnets in each block by drilling from the center.
