This is a 1/2" thick nut bowl about 7" across and 21/2" deep. It was dyed black sanded, and then dyed again with Behlen's Red Mahogany dye stain. Beaded with a 3/8" spindle gouge on the surface and the foot. Sprayed lacquer for finish and waxed with Ren Wax.

Bob, I am getting increasingly jealous of what seems to be an endless supply of beautiful maple!!;) This is another winner. Love the color, and the form is perfect - nice compliment with the beadwork.

Great looking bowl Bob, it looks a lot like the back of my old fiddle. I went to the Cincinnati Woodcraft looking for some curly maple, but found none. Same story at Rockler. I'll just have to keep looking.

I think my favorite feature of this bowl is the slightly undercut rim. It creates a closed form and the curves work very well for that. The dye is nice, but I have a feeling the photos do not do it justice - not a criticism, but I just have a feeling that fiddle and dye really work well together.

Very nice form, and the dye job complements the curl of the wood quite nicely
