What you call "quick and simple" would take me a long time and a great deal of planning. Very nice piece, love the maple and the IDK wood finial. Nicely balanced shape, the finial seems to pull the hollow form up. Finish?

I really like the form and finial Steve. The colors are rather low key in both woods but they definitely go well together. I am imagining how stunning this would look in stronger colors.

That is a fine piece of work, Steve.............very nicely done form and the finial is really good............nice detailing on it, and very complimentary to your hollow form.

A quick glance at this piece and the qualities are overlooked. There is a subtle beauty about it. I like it all, shape, finial and finish. You done good!

Steve, this is a very nice piece! Whatever the finial is, it goes well with the form and the proportions are good. There is a slight interruption in the flow where the lid sits, but it still seems to come together quite well.

Lovely wood and form. That would take me two days and I wouldn't get it right. Thanks for sharing.

In this case, "quick and simple" worked out great. Very nice shape that could make any wood look good.

Thank you all. It did feel good just to knock one out with out a lot of thought. John your right there is a slight bump at the junction. It sit's just a tad low in the opening. I didn't notice it in real time, but like has been said a million times, pics find things the human eye don't notice till you see it in a pic.

Steve, I agree with John on the piece, very nice shape and and the color of the finial goes nice with the main form. Sometimes the quick simple ones turn out to be the nice ones!

Very nice and thanks for sharing,

Jeff

The quick and simple ones have to stand on great form and finish to be stunning, and you have hit it out of the ball park.
