Grizzly Muffler

What I would like is to know is the inside the diameter, hopefully 6", also are they an effective answer to noise?

I have one for a G0440 and the inside diameter is 6 3/4". I can not tell any reduction in noise.

I too bought the muffler for my G0440 when I ordered it. The claim is
"for a significant reduction in noise level without any loss in efficiency". Maybe some sort of meter can show a reduction in some frequencies but, the reality is no noticeable reduction in noise. Don't bother.

The shape of the impeller in your blower determines the amount of sound produced. My Delta (actually a Cincinnatti Fan) is quieter than my table saw with a combo blade on it. A muffler is just an enlarged section of pipe with sound absorbing material inside. You can use two transitions and section of larger pipe, and line it with foam (egg crate stuff like is used for mattress toppers.) Even ordinary carpet padding can be used to line muffler. You would most likely need a cylinder of hardware cloth to retain foam in place. When I built my cyclone, I added piping for a muffler, but never lined it as my fan is so quiet.

Depending, a section of flexible HVAC duct - 6" or 8" can do wonders. Cheap and easy to hook up and check out. Think that I first read about it on Bill P's site.

If you are asking me, I don't use filters as our climate does not get that cold and if it is that hot all work stops and down to the beach for a swim. :)

I had an Oneida muffler on my Oneida cyclone, it was mounted in the exhaust duct of the cyclone. (The cyclone had an internal filter).

It made a noticeable reduction in the noise.

A couple of years later I converted the cyclone to the external HEPA filter, now the filter acts as the silencer..............Rod.

Anthony, The cyclone and muffler are in the garage, the shop is on the other side of the wall to the right. The muffler has a door inside that directs the exhaust outside if the weather is nice, or back into the shop and into the Grizzly filter if it's cold.
