This is one of the pieces of cherry Tim gifted me when I visited him in December. I cored it and did the initial turning then and it's finally stopped losing weight. There were several large cracks on the outside, but they didn't make it all the way in so filled them epoxy and brass shaving and went for it. I've decided to standardize my bowls a bit. Bowls for use, the lip will tilt in, bowls for display, out. This is sanded to 320 dry and finished with Doctors Walnut Oil and Carnuba Wax Finish and burnished on the lathe. The bowl is 10"x3" and has an "invisible" foot. 223497223498223499

I've included the core of the bowl, now a roughed out HF, to show how little the finish darkened the wood. Sorry, it's a little blurry.

Thanks for looking, comments and criticism appreciated.

Nice work, Nate! Looks like the HF is going to be sweet, as well.

Nicely done, Nate. Tim shared a piece of that cherry with me, and my chunk started to crack almost immediately... That reminds me that I need to check on the rough out. I'm looking forward to seeing your HF finished.
