So what do wood-turners think of this tool?

I ran across it looking for a cheaper alternative to the $100+ carbide tools.

I saw that in my catalog. I guess you could multi-purpose your router bits with something like that and when one edge gets dull, just rotate it. When I saw it, I thought about the zillion high speed router bits I already have but don't use anymore and might could put in the bar on my hollowing rig. Personally, I'd do that before I'd buy this. Sort of looks like another take on a bunch of tools already available.

My first thought was to use it to hold 1/4 inch tool like those carbide tiped bits used on small metal lathes.

Some half inch cold rolled steel, tap, and a couple of set screws... You could make one yourself for next to nothing if you want to try it on the cheap. Of course, for 30 bucks, it could be repurposed to hold an HSS cutter if the router bits aren't to your liking.

Looks like a great idea! And cheap enough that you're not risking much at all! Neat . . .
