For lack of a better description I am trying to figure out a hinge or method that will keep a small box closed. Basically making a small (4" x 6" x 3/4") box that I want to be held closed but can be easily pried open and then snapped shut, just like an eye glass case.

I can not seem to find any hinges that have this attribute and I am at a loss as to what mechanical means I would employ to hold the box closed (latch won't work).

Rare earth magnets -- y'know, those disc-shaped things. You can buy them in sizes like 1/8" diameter by 1/16" thick or 1/4" diameter by 1/10" thick. Inlay them into mating faces, being careful to inlay them so they attract, not repel. Works like a champ.

That is my fall back option. I would prefer to not have to use magnets.
