This one ended up at 9" x 5". Sanded to 320 with home brew oil, and ren wax.

I like this shape, and very well done. That bark is impressive. Photos a bit washed out.

Nice shape and finish. Gnarly edge. Looks like a challenge. Walnut is one of my favorite woods.

Hopefully these photos are better. The bark on this on was the thickest I've ever seen on walnut.

That is a really nice bowl Steven. I like the form and the knarly bark.

Awesome bowl. I got some walnut not too long ago but the tree wasn't really holding it's bard at all. Even though it was winter cut.

Your monitors brightness is probably set too low, hence you brighten them too far. I'm into photography so I have the benefit of a hardware calibrated monitor. The last photo in your second round of pictures is closest to correct, but still too bright if you'd like a reference point to adjust it a bit.

Steven, that is a challenging form! Pretty deep to accomplish with a gouge, but looks like you pulled it off. On the pics, I think the issue is more about contrast at this point. If you increase the contrast, it might get rid of some of the hazy look.

One more time with the pictures. Sorry about the lousy pics, I was traveling and trying out a new convertible netbook computer, and the pics looked a lot different on that machine than they do on a proper computer. Bernie Weishapl was kind enough to grab the pics and adjust them and his results are pretty much what the bowl looks like in real life. Thanks Bernie for taking the time to do this!
