This is a hollow form that I am in the process of finishing. Was made from a maple log that sat in the yard for a little over a year so there is some rot and spalting. thought it had some interesting color to it.

Sparky that is just down right georgous. Your form is refreshing and the choice of wood is spectacular. A real home run, thanks for sharing.

Great form, and beautiful combination of spalting and Ambrosia stain!

I do not know what Ambrosia or Ambrosia stain is, but I have seen it mentioned many times. As I am looking at Sparky's hollow form, what is the Ambrosia part? From John's comment, why is it called a stain?

Thanks, Dan

Very nice form and cool wood, it even has some breathing holes in it!

Dan--- The ambrosia stains are the elongated spots of dark, greenish color. They are the result of a fungus introduced to the wood by certain species of beetle, which is why there is usually a small hole near the stains.

Thanks All! Guess I should bring in those other two logs that were sitting out there with this one and cut blanks out of them!

Great form - beautiful wood! Don't let the rest of that wood go to waste! Looking forward to seeing this one with a finish on it!
