I am going to be making some round sphere clocks in both woods and acrylics. I am looking for some ideas for some turned bases that I can sit them in. Sometimes my brain get loked up and right now I can invision any pleasing shapes. I do not want to turn a piece of wood and drill a hole and set the clock in it. I want to be more creative. Where do you all go to get ideas?? Is there some sort of book that shows different shapes??? Does anyone have a few photos of examples of some round bases that might work for what I am seeking to do?? Thanks in advance. I need a kick start.

Not sure what a round sphere clock looks like. Got any examples, or pictures?

I have been doing these for some time now and the base I designed was to look something like a billiard's triangle. So I want to take this idea and make my own spheres or balls or round (somewhat, hopefully) objects. I will be using various woods and eventually hope to do them segmented. I will also cast some in resins being that I cast blanks for pens I thought I would try this. I will be adding a clock insert as I did with the billiardballs. I just can not come up with a nice shape for the base. I will be putting a cove in it to accept the ball. Hope this helps explain a little what I am after.
