Here is a bowl I just re-turned from a blank roughed a couple of years ago. It is about 12" in diameter The slightly undercut rim makes it look a little thicker than it is. I finished it with Mahoney's Walnut oil thinking it might be a salad bowls since the wood has no bug holes. It went darker than I expected but the spalting still comes through. It has probably been a year or so since I finished any bowls this large as I have been concentrating on other turnings.

Mike,
I love the color of the this turning. Sweet Gum can have some really nice color sometimes and this one does. You captured a classic design and the finish seems nice and rich too. Well done.

Nice lines on this bowl. Sweet Gum is one of my favorite woods, I just wish it was a common local tree for me, but too cold up my way for them I guess. They can be found an hour or two away.

Well done, Mike! That has a lot more color than some gum I have.
