After seeing a post on the Lowes clearance on the CH compressors I made a trip to Lowes the other day. All winter I've had my eye on the VT6329. 60 gal 220V@ 15 amps supplying 10.3 cfm @ 90 psi. The guard was dinged up, flywheel missing, no filter & belt & no manual. Thought I could make a deal with the manager on it & then complete it with parts from other junk compressors. Markdown price was $398. Obviously not right due to the missing parts. Manager said he would give me a good deal on a package price if I ALSO took the CH DP4615 which was marked down to $564. This was a complete unit. 60 gal three cylinder, 220v @ 17.5 amps. 13.5 cfm @ 90 psi. So I brought them both home. Man they are BIG & HEAVY. Since I'm going to sell one of them, (I also have a Porter Cable C3151 Job Boss portable 150 PSI & 6 cfm @ 90 psi for sale. Just bought it in Jan.) I ended up ordering all new parts from CH for $100 for the VT 6329. This way here any potential buyer can't say to me that it is jury rigged together.

Now to the ???'s Which one should I sell? They both have a 100% duty cycle. The smaller one has an 83 DB noise rating. I plan on getting into spraying with HVLP. May also start the learning curve on spraying fiberglass gelcoat. Second ?? is the plug is a 6/20P. Should I run a 220V from a thirty amp breaker or will 20 amp be sufficient?
Thanks
Al

Well you will have to decide but for me it would be a no-brainer. KEEP THE BIG ONE!!!

If it has a 6-20P plug on it, you can use it on a 2 pole (220V) 20 amp circuit breaker.

I've always heard load shouldn't be more than 80% of circuit capacity. Since .8 of 20A is 16, I'd go with the 30A breaker (and correctly sized cable!) for the CH DP4615.
Disclaimer - I'm not an electrician and I don't play one on the web either.

If you are looking to get into spraying, definately keep the big one, you want as much air as you can get!

Thanks guys, I was leaning toward the bigger one but I was also thinking if I sold that one I would end up getting the smaller one for free. I was also thinking that 10 cfm with a 60 gal tank sufficient. I think I'll try & keep the DP4615 over the VT 6329 but if a buyer comes along that really wants the DP I'll let him have it.

I think I'll run 10 gauge off a 30 amp breaker. T%hat way I'm sure I'm covered.
