anybody have any input on this topic?? want to do inlace type inlays on cutting boards. do not want any problems. thanks :confused::confused::confused:

Paul, I've used the tapble top varnish, which is really epoxy, added some one shot paint to make it the color I wanted and filled in the inlay piece. Sign makers do this all the time. Never had a problem.

Just curious on why you want to put an inlay on a cutting board, unless it is intended for display purposes only. I would imagine that inlace inlays would be hard on your knives. Just a thought. I tried using a glass cuttng board for a little while. You can't imagine how fast your knives get dull.

I think you might have a problem where the inlay crosses a seam, particularly if there are dissimilar woods glued together. If there's any expansion/contraction you might get hairline cracks in the Inlace.
