This hat was ordered by a previous customer, he plans to donate it to a charity auction. The suspension is mounted with copper rivets. It is actually pretty comfortable although obviously not OSHA approved. It is slightly thicker than I usually turn a hat but still well under 1/8". The finish is Minwax Wipe on Poly. Comments and critiques welcome.

A wooden hat with a sweat resistant suspension, well I never.....................!! How cool, and resolves the problem of non-breathing wooden hats that are too hot to wear!!!

Well, I'm about to say I think I've seen it all! I've seen the cowboy hats some folks turn, and am amazed at how that's done. I guess I never thought about a helmet. Very cool indeed! And it works! But as you say, OSHA may think otherwise. Nice job!

Great hard hat. That is something unusual to say the least and should be a great conversational piece for the new owner.
Did you show it at ETW show and tell last week?

I wonder if I could get away with something like that on a job site. That is too cool. I hope it goes for a lot.

Dennis, you are full of surprises! That's a cool hat/helmet! What sort of wood? Will you have it at the club meeting on Feb 11?

Wonderful piece of work Dennis! I'd love to see someone wear that to the jobsite infront of the foreman someday!

It's just hard to believe what you are likely to see here.. Sure looks a lot nicer than my Green Bay hard hat I wear everyday at work... It's sometimes hazardous to my health to wear a Green Bay hard hat on the job in Minnesota...........................

Very cool and very well done. I imagine a market niche in the retirement gift department.
