Bill Hensley, fellow Creeker from North Carolina, was in the area last week and stopped by for a short visit. We talked turning and had a nice visit. I was showing him my bowl kiln and took this Poplar Bowl out to show, well it had a crack in the rim and a split along the side. I told him that this one would be firewood. Later, though, I took another look and thought that I might be able to turn that out. I am glad I took that second look because look at this unusual color and grain. I have been seeing a lot of this red tint in Poplar here lately, but not this brownish tint and grain.
