Black Limba, an African wood. Turned this about 5 years ago and has been sold. Rim is wenge and holly. It's 10.5 inches in dia. I obtained a 3" x 11" plank, enough for several pieces. I just discovered that I have one blank left. Might put a finial on the next one.

Comments welcome.

Very pretty wood and form Wally. I like the subtle detail(grooves) around the neck. They seem to add a lot.

Wally,

It does not have to be fancy to be nice. That is a very nice piece.

Gorgeous! Black limba also makes nice electric guitar bodies.

Wally, You did a nice job of letting the wood speak for itself. Beautiful form.

That is gorgeous, Wally. I also like the subtle grooves at the top and the holly ring makes a perfect transition to the wenge. You are an incredibly talented man!!

Simple is not so simple sometimes. I like the rings around the openings as well. Thanks for showing.

Wally, I love the wood combination and the form is divine! Wish you still had the piece, as I would enjoy seeing a good side profile view. I bet the next one with a finial will be beautiful, as well. Perhaps use a combination of the same woods??

Not sure I would call it "simple". Form is perfect, wood is gorgeous, subtle ring enhancement is just right. If it was simple, I would be able to do it...

These simple forms like this from a pretty piece of wood really do it for me. That's a beauty Wally.

Beautiful, Wally. I too like the grooves - they frame the collar nicely. :)

You're right - that is some really pretty wood! I look forward to seeing what you create with the rediscovered blank!

Very nice! This limba is much prettier than the little bit that I've turned, and you've shown it nicely with this form.

Beautiful piece Wally! I like black limba too but have only turned spindle blanks. Maybe I need to check Woodworkers source to see if they have any 12/4.
