Still need to apply a few more coats of wipe on poly to the body of the form, also will need to sand out the lacquer on the base and finial then apply one final coat.
But I just couldn't wait to post this pic, the only color on the form is the green but that alone really made what little figure was in this wood "pop" and it will only get better as I apply more coats of finish and then buff it out.

Comments and critiques most welcome..
I should add that now with the new finial the piece stands 19 1/4" h x 4" w

Very cool! Love the green color. I bet it makes a nice contrast standing among your red ones!

Thanks Baxter
I wouldn't know though as it's still in the shop waiting for more finish to be applied :), and the base pedestal has yet to be glued to the form so I'm being very carefull where I place it..

By keeping the stem and finial simple in form, it really creates a focus on the beautiful coloration of the vessel. An excellent execution on color, form and finish. Well done.

John, I told you that wood had figure!!!!;) Super result!! Amazing how just a little tweaking on the finial made all the difference in the world with this one. An excellent piece, beautiful choice of color, and great work!!

I've been following your progress on this and, to me, that color just took it to the next level. Thanks for sharing your progress pics. Helps us all with the learning process.

I like it because I think it is a little "out of the box". Some really great transitions. I would have preferred a little more girth but it is still very "look-able".

Thanks everyone
I'm really pleased with how this is turning out, as I said before, I wanted to try a piece without putting too much embellishment on the finial and pedestal and just keep all of the lines smooth and flowing. Given the size of this piece I think this worked for the better.
Something else that I've started doing is to first bleach the wood before applying any dyes, this makes a big differance in how the wood will take the colors.
