Here's what I did today. It's about 6 inches by about (the highest part) 3 inches and 1/8 inch thick. This one challanged me.

C and C always welcome!221850221851

Very nice looking! Seems to have a nice even thickness all the way to the bottom. I would have thought it was much larger than it is from the photo.

Very nice bowl. The edges are great. A profile shot looking through the ups and down would be neat!

Harvey,
I've heard of air guitar, but wow, you were turning more air than wood most of the time at the rim. Nice execution and great looking BLM.

Agree with Harry, those blue feet just don't fit the piece:D. Really nice bowl, great job. Would really like to turn some of that wood someday.

super vessel..very thin walled . keeping the edges that thin is good turning.

Some very nice work on a beautiful piece of burl, Harvey! I have some of those painter's pyramids, as well, but I wish they made them in a smaller set for turnings! Mine are left over from flat work, and are just a bit too big to fit under the base on most of my turnings. Looks like you have them scrunched together pretty tight.

Harvey - that is really cool! Beautiful wood and the form reminds me of a fragment from a dinosaur egg!

I don't have any of those large painter's pyramids... I've been using some of those plastic lid supports that you get with take-out pizza. Works for me!

That is a sweet bowl, but that burl....WOW. I admire you for getting it so thin. Nice job and thanks for showing.

Very nice piece Harvey. I can see that challenge there too. Glad it survived.

Nice job on a great piece of wood. Love the irregular natural edge pieces like this.

The challenges in it are very evident. A very nice piece showing off some great looking wood. An excellent looking finish.
Thanks for posting.

I would love to see a picture from above looking into the bowl, as somebody else has said, it looks to be a spectacular piece of BLM. A fantastic job turning this bowl, consistent and a great finish.

Roland, I will repost this project after a few coats of WOP. I had this burl left over from another project and this was actually the unused cut off.

Great looking bowl. The wood is fantastic, and you did a great job turning the wood and air combination.

Not to hijack this thread but,

I have gotten the spiky balls from sweet gum and sprayed this with lacquer and they work well.

Lovely piece! This one reminds me of a fallen leaf much like the piece that Bob Rotche posted a few days ago... It's a great way to show off a beautiful natural edge burl!
