I sold this mug last month and after being used a few time, a couple of the glue joints failed. I replaced it and the customer was happy with the replacement. It was kind of strange that this one failed as it was part a production run of about 18 mugs and this is the only one (that I know about) that failed. I got it back and I filled the 2 failed joints. In order to hide the wide seam, I carved all of them about a 16th of an inch wide. I also used my rotary carver to distress the entire bottom section. I then used black leather dye and sanded it back to expose most of the walnut. I think it turned out ok and will try to sell this unique piece.
