Steady rest

Imade a steady rest like James Combs and like jeff Nicol . To you that have one like this is it normal for it to vibrate at the top or is there something I should do to keep it from vibrating. Thanks Jim

I know I get vibration when turning to fast. Slow it down and the vibration is gone.

I get a little vibration at certain RPMs. I am going to beef up my base plate a little because I thank the 5/16 thick plate I used is a little light. I am think that once it is beefed up that it will dampen the vibration a little. In any case the vibration I do get is not that bad. A little adjustment of the spindle speed usually keeps it a bay.
