Possible goofy question about dust collection

From some of the recent posts, it looks like having an air cleaner helps no matter how good your at the point dust collection works. Would a Thien type baffle worked into an air cleaner between the air intake and the filters venting back into the room have any positive impact on keeping the filters clean? I know it would make the whole apparatus more bulky, but I've got all the room in the world going up, so if my air cleaner ended up being 4 feet tall, no worries. I'm talking about building the whole thing, not adapting a Jet or Delta, although I'd probably build it so that the filter portion could use filters built for one of those style units.

The Thein baffle works on velocity of air. I doubt your air cleaner is going to have the necessary tangential velocity to separate air borne dust particles from the air.
