My first impression was that it was a pretty nice piece. After I looked at it a while, my second impression was that it was still a pretty nice piece.

I like it, but how do you sand a piece like this for finishing?

How did you train the worms to do that? Very unusual but very cool!

I believe I commented on another forum, but I like this wrinkly vessel so much, it's worth 2 comments. Very, very cool!

Joe, let me guess - it was turned 12" tall, but turned wet and thin and drooped on you!?!?!?;):D "Pug" is a fitting name, for sure!

I love it!! Great texturing on a great form to begin with. Excellent!!

I would not even have to begun to think how that was done. Cool, neat, outstanding, can you do a G`retriever ?:) Carl

Thanks for all the feedback and comments. The vessel was sanded in the normal fashion prior to any carving. I recently received an Automach reciprocating carver as a gift from a dear friend. The freehand carving was done with Flexcut blades mounted in the Automach. It cuts so clean that only minimal hand sanding was required prior to applying wipe-on poly.

Lots of wow factor there, Joe. Your pieces are always so elegant, and even with this embellishment, remain, at least to me, a simple form.

Way cool, dude.................

Looks like the right wood the right shape and the right enhancement to me. That is a wonderful piece.

My first impression: "Where did he get #2 grit sandpaper?" ;^} But very cool effect - can't even begin to imagine how you trained the worms to only tunnel on the outside of the piece!

Very cool, Joe!

Can you do it German Shepherd style?

Dang... How'd you get that finish that thick to sag like that?;)

I still like this... Very original and well done.

Well, ok. I'll be different. I'm thinking bee hive. Don't matter though. That is one super cool piece - the color, the texture, the shape - it all comes together really nice!

Wow Joe you really nailed the form and surface! Looks like all of those hours spent texturing paid off! My dogs want to know what "whippett" would look like!

Joe - my first thought was that you still need to work a little on your tool control ;) but other than that I think it is a beautiful piece!
