Hello all,

I registered on this site just last week and aside of some issues with my browser not allowing me to post (obviously fixed now) I love it. I've been turning for about 4 years and am glad to have found this informative and friendly site!! Anyway, just wanted to say hi.

Welcome Jeff. What have you been turning for the last 4 years? You should have seen by now, no pictures, it did not happen. I'll be looking for some pictures, and it is a GREAT site.

Here's a few things...I've done pens, bottle stoppers, pepper and salt mills, ornaments, I've also done bowls but no pics yet. I'll have to take some. Got a LOT of black walut that is going to make some nice salad bowl sets...also just starting to learn boxes... I don't do a very good job of taking pictures of my work but I'm working on trying to remember to take some pics of everything the minute I finish a project. We'll see how that goes...

Jeff --- Welcome to the Creek! Looks like you have no shortage of pepper at your home. :) How do you like writing with a fountain pen? All I use now unless I have to make carbons.

Thanks all for such a warm welcome!! I know I'm going to like it here! I'm in Canton Ohio, so hopefully I'll be able to meet up with some of the other Ohio based SM Creekers! You'd think there would be lots of pepper in my house based on the pics, but all of those were gifts...If fact, I'm embarrassed to say we don't even have a pepper mill! haha!! I'm actually working on a salt mill and pepper mill for us, but my wife informed me that since I've made all of those others and gave them away that the one I make for home must be spectacular. I have the plan, now I just need to execute it...More to follow on that...As for the fountain pen question...The one in the photo was a commissioned piece made from Ebony and Mastodon tusk, but my everyday writer is a fountain pen with a fine tip and I love it. I'd much rather write with a fountain than any other type of pen...Here's a couple more pics of some of the things I've done (I didn't have these last night on the other computer)...This was my second goblet, and a pen that I thought came out particularly nice with a 6 ring celtic knot...

I'll throw in another welcome (and likely won't be the last). SMC is a great site, and not just for turners.
