6 x 7 Sycamore / Dye
Finished with Lacquer.

My goal here was to make it look like there was a hollowform within a hollowform and you are looking through the wave into the inside piece.

Beautiful, I really love these Wavy creations.

The execution is spot on, Form, finish everything.

Very clean!!!! Great work on the wave, of course, but also on the undercut opening! John, you do quality work on your artistry.

John that is one of the most incredible hollow forms I have seen posted, if not the most incredible. Your work give others like myself something to strive for. Thanks for showing.

Great job! Part of me want to see the inner vessel with a little upturn at the opening so it would be a bit more conspicuous, but it's an absolutely fantastic piece as it stands!

Thanks for all the comments.

David K. I like your suggestion. It does read better in person then on the photograph, but I think I will try your idea on the next one.

WOW, I love it. Any info on the wall thickness? Also as with Chris's question, are you up to divulging your secret methods?

Fascinating and very neatly done. Questions abound as to "how", but however it's done, it is a beautiful piece of work.

At this point I am sharing some of the technique through club demos, but I don't have any write-ups or videos on it yet.

James C: because of the recessed wave and wanting the inner piece to match the outer piece the walls are left fairly thick. I try to double the depth of the wave which is about 1/4" deep, so the final wall thickness is closer to 1/2". I've never actually measured one, I just go by feel.

John... my apologies... haven't been feeling 100% the last few days - so have missed a few threads.

This is pretty cool - as a concept and as a final turning. I do like the color contrast and if I had turned this, I would have made the lip/collar area a lot smaller because the important feature is inside! Nice work - real nice! Thanks for sharing!
