I had the pleasure of meeting Kathy Marshall this weekend at the AZ turning meeting. I am looking forward to the monthly get together with this group. Kathy brought me a wonderful piece of Sissoo... Thanks Kathy.

more pics of the rough out... soaking in DNA right now. Will probably turn it pretty thin. I could have turned it and let it warp but I prefer the unwarped look better.

Looks good so far. I wouldn't get too worked up about the DNA soak for Sissoo. I didn't soak any of the pieces of Sissoo that Kathy sent me and there was little to no movement! Great wood to turn, for sure!

Hi Scott,
This stuff was really really wet. I have had some movement in mesquite that I did not really like so for me the DNA soak and couple weeks drying is well worth it. With three little kids it is hard to find time to get in the garage so every piece I work on I want to be able to complete.

I really like this stuff - will be on the look out for more.

You're welcome Jon!
Looks like you'll end up with a very nice bowl! I like how you've done the rim.

I really like the sapwood off setting the darker center. It makes a nice contrast. That's going to be one nice bowl )

That is some really cool looking wood. Bowl will be nice when finished too.
