Here are my first two attempts at using deer antler (these were shed antlers, so no animals were harmed for these pens). Top one is a Magnum pen and the second is a 30 cal in gun metal finish. Both were kits from pen state industries. Been wanting for a long time to try antler. The smell wasn't as bad as I thought and the turning and finishing were very similar to wood. Wish the camera took better pictures :D

Both of your cartridge pens look pretty good to me! That antler sure adds different look!

Nice job Scott. They turn and finish pretty easily but the smell really comes from if you have to bandsaw them down to size.

They look good to me... I particularly like the top piece where you got into some of the cancellous part of the antler.

The smell of antler has never bothered me... Occupational perk I suppose.

A physician and father of a baby is probably used to much smelly stuff!

Those look nice. Antler pens are a fun project and sell well around deer season.

Your pens look nice. I enjoy making them & they are one of my most popular selling pens.
