Until I have problems with the one I pick anyway...

I think I'm down to 3 canister DCs. They seem to have better micron ratings than the bag versions...

Penn State DC2000 (2hp, 1500 cfm, 1 micron)
Delta 50-850A (1.5hp, 1200 cfm, 2 micron)
Jet DC1100 (1.5 hp, 1100 cfm, 2 micron, remote)

Any experience or feedback you have on the pros and cons of these would be greatly appreciated. At this point, I'm mostly interested in quality and real world performance.

If you have any experience with any DCs from these vendors you think would be useful, that would also be helpful. Or if you discounted one for a particular reason...

Gary, I have one of the early Deltas 50-850’s that came with two flour sacks for bags.:rolleyes: I changed out the bags for a set of the Penn State heavy felt, 1 micron’s and have been very happy with it. I only use it on one machine at a time including a 15" planner and a 18/36 drum sander and it has no problem keeping up with either. I can’t attest to its performance in a full blown system.

Not to throw a wrench into your plans.... but I have the Jet 1100 with bags. I order a custom bag from American Fabric Filters in FL. They made me a custom bag with a 1 micron rating. It is larger than a standard bag to maximize the cfm of the DC. I have been very happy with it. The bag was about $75.

Size Matters
I'd go, ( heck I went) 2hp. The Jet Remote is new and there is not a lot to them but I don't know that it has proven itself yet.
Dennis Peacock has a great remote you can build your self (I'll help) It is versitile and you can invest more in you DC.

The 2hp (240v) will generally win this race, although the "real" CFM will be about half the vendors's rating.

When I was looking for a DC, quite some time ago, The Jets were highly rated by people on the web because their numbers were much closer to the truth. Their motors were also considered to be better than the competition at that time. I bought a Jet DC1200 for that reason. I would think that either the Jet or the Delta would be my DC of choice, given the 3 you seem to be interested in. I simply would not trust the numbers from Penn State or their imported motor. Just my $0.02
