Engraving a Zippo Sapphire Chrome Lighter

Has anyone done one of these just by lasering the coating, as Zippo says this is a type of chrome? Or do I need to use Cermark, which I don't want to use.

A co2 laser won't mark chrome without Cermark. Even with Cermark you may have problems with chrome.

Just out of curiosity, why don't you want to use Cermark?

The samples I've seen look like they've been lasered with a co2 but I can't be sure. Call Zippo in Bradford, PA.

I don't believe Cermark would work on this finish as it's not bare metal.
