Prayers for engraving plaques. If anyone is interested I can post a dozen more.
Since we must abide by our Terms of Service we can't discuss Religion so any of these prayers that are suitable for your engraving customers cut and paste as you like. To the best of my knowledge these are all free of copywrite.

Nope, I'm certainly not a poet. These are prayers I found in my travels, they are all standards and when the author is known the name will be included.


Father's Prayer

A Dad's Special Blessing...
So kind, so strong and wise.
He's there to give encouragement,
To see through loving eyes.
A dad's the first to lend a hand,
The last to turn away.
The one who always seems to have
A helpful word to say.
The special things about him
Are cherished more each year.

A Nurses Touch Prayer

An infant crying in a crib,
A gentle hand is near.
A small child frightened in the night,
A soothing voice to cheer.
A young man's life in danger lies,
A skillful hand to heal.
A woman fears in labor,
A knowing voice lends will. In sickness and in health,
A guiding hand each day;
And when the shadows finally dim,
A voice to ease the way.
As we pass from birth to grave,
Nurses give so much;
From their knowledge and their spirit,
With tender words and touch.

Guardian Angel Baby Prayer

Sleep little baby and dream.

God's little angels

Wedding Prayer

Lord, help us to remember
when we first met
And the strong love that
grew between us.

We ask for words both

we put our marriage into
Your hands.

Firemen's Prayer (modern)

When I am called to duty, God,
wherever flames may rage, give me strength to save
some life whatever be it's age, help me embrace a
little child before it's too late or save an older
person from the horror of that fate.
Enable me to be alert and hear the weakest shout and
quickly and effectively to put the fire out.
I want to fill my calling and to give the best in me,
to guard my every neighbor and protect their property and
if according to your will I have to lose my life, Please
bless with your protecting hand my families precious life.

Police Officer's Prayer

Lord, I ask you to be with me
In a very special way
As I face the challenges
That come my way each day.

Pharmacist's Oath

At this time, I vow to devote my professional life

Sailor’s Prayer

Now I lay me down to sleep
I pray the Lord my soul to keep
Grant no other sailor take
My shoes and socks before I wake

Lord grant me in my slumber
And keep my hammock on its number
May no clues nor lashings break
And let me down before I wake

Keep me safely in thy sight
And grant no fire drill tonight
And in the morning let me wake
Breathing scents of sirloin steak
God protect me in my dreams
And make it better than it seems

Grant the time will swiftly fly
When myself shall rest on high
In a snowy feather bed
Where I long to rest my head
Far away from all these scenes
And the smell of half done beans

Take me back into the land
Where they don’t scrub down with sand
Where no demon typhoon blows
Where the women wash the clothes
God thou knowest all my woes
Feed me in my dying thoes
Take me back I’ll promise then

The Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace;

Teacher's Prayer

I want to teach my students how to live this life on Earth.
To face it's struggles and it's strife, and to improve their worth.

Not just the lesson in a book or how the rivers flow,
But how to choose the proper path wherever they may go.

To understand eternal truth and know the right from wrong,
And gather all the beauty of a flower and a song.

For if I help the world to grow in wisdom and in grace,
Then I shall feel that I have won, and I have filled my place.

Army Soldier's Creed

I am an American Soldier

I am a member of the United States Army.
A protector of the greatest nation on earth.
Because I am proud of the uniform I wear,
I will always act in ways creditable to the military service
and the nation it is sworn to guard.
I am proud of my own organization.
I will do all I can to make it the finest unit in the Army.
I will be loyal to those under who I serve.
I will do my full party to carry out orders and instructions given me or my unit.
As a soldier, I realize that I am a member of a time-honored profession.
That I am doing my share to keep alive
the principles of freedom for which my country stands.
No matter what situation I am in,
I will never do anything for pleasure, profit, or personal safety,

The Legend of the Dogwood Tree

It is said at the time of the Crucifixion, the dogwood was comparable in size to the oak tree and other monarchs of the forest. Because of its firmness and strength it was selected as the timber for the Cross, but to be put to such a cruel use greatly distressed the tree. Sensing this, the crucified Jesus in His gentle pity for the sorrow and suffering of all said to it: "Because of your sorrow and pity for My sufferings, never again will the dogwood tree grow large enough to be used as a gibbet. Henceforth it will be slender, bent and twisted and its blossoms will be in the form of a cross -- two long and two short petals. In the center of the outer edge of each petal there will be nail prints -- brown with rust and stained with red -- and in the center of the flower will be a crown of thorns, and all who see this will remember."

I know that I still have plenty of these to share, just have to find them. I do have a graphic that contains the prayer of the woods that many here would appreciate. Most of the prayers are cut and paste, just a few will have to be entered manually.

I am the heat of your hearth

The Submariner's Prayer

Almighty Everlasting God, Protector of all those who put
their trust in Thee, hear our prayers in behalf of those who
sail their vessels beneath the sea.

We beseech Thee to keep in Thy sustaining care all who are
in submarines, that they may be delivered from the hidden
dangers of the deep.

Grant them courage and a devotion to fulfill their duties, that
they may better serve Thee and their native land.

Though acquainted with the depths of the ocean, deliver
them from the depths of despair and the dark hours of the
absence of friendliness and a good ship's sprit.

Bless all their kindred and loved ones from whom they are
separated.

When they surface their ships, may they praise Thee, for
Thou art with them there, as well as in the deep.

Fill them with Thy Sprit, that they may be sure in their

The Woodworker’s Prayer

Angels guide my hammer, angels guide my saw
Angels guide my working hands and all my planning thoughts.
Angels guide my planer, angels guide my lathe
So every night when work is done I leave the shop unscathed.

For as I do my daily work I lift my head and pray
That angels dance along my bench and guide my every way.
Be with me in the morning, and when the sun does set
Make sure the work that I do now is the best that I’ve done yet.

And when the day’s receding, and the stars begin to show
I know my work is guided by the Lord’s most loving glow,
Keep me safe while working, and let me do my best

I can't remember where I found this poem however it does serve as an important reminder no matter what the season.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

The embers glowed softly, and in their dim light,
I gazed round the room and I cherished the sight.
My wife was asleep, her head on my chest,
My daughter beside me, angelic in rest.

Outside the snow fell, a blanket of white,
transforming the yard to a winter delight.
The sparkling lights in the tree I believe,
completed the magic that was Christmas Eve.

My eyelids were heavy, my breathing was deep,
secure and surrounded by love I would sleep.
In perfect contentment, or so it would seem,
so I slumbered, perhaps I started to dream.

The sound wasn't loud, and it wasn't too near,
but I opened my eyes when it tickled my ear.
Perhaps just a cough, I didn't quite know,
then the sure sound of footsteps outside in the snow.

My soul gave a tremble, I struggled to hear,
and I crept to the door just to see who was near.
Standing out in the cold and the dark of the night,
a lone figure stood, his face weary and tight.

A soldier, I puzzled, some twenty years old,
perhaps a Marine, huddled here in the cold.
Alone in the dark, he looked up and smiled,
standing watch over me, and my wife and my child.

"What are you doing?" I asked without fear,
"come in this moment, it's freezing out here!
Put down your pack, brush the snow from your sleeve,
you should be at home on a cold Christmas Eve!"

For barely a moment I saw his eyes shift,
away from the cold and the snow blown in drifts,
to the window that danced with a warm fire's light.
Then he sighed and he said "it's really all right,
I'm out here by choice. I'm here every night."

"It's my duty to stand at the front of the line,
that separates you from the darkest of times.
No one had to ask or beg or implore me,
I'm proud to stand here like my fathers before me."

My Gramps died at 'Pearl on a day in December."
Then he sighed, "that's a Christmas 'Gram always remembers."
My dad stood his watch in the jungles of 'Nam',
and now it is my turn and so, here I am.
I've not seen my own son in more than a while,
but my wife sends me pictures, he's sure got her smile.

Then he bent and he carefully pulled from his bag,
the red, white, and blue... an American flag.

"I can live through the cold and the being alone,
away from my family, my house and my home.
I can stand at my post through the rain and the sleet,
I can sleep in a foxhole with little to eat.
I can carry the weight of killing another,
or lay down my life with my sister and brother..
who stand at the front against any and all,
to ensure for all time that this flag will not fall."

"So go back inside," he said, "harbor no fright,
your family is waiting and I'll be all right."
"But isn't there something I can do, at the least,
give you money," I asked, "or prepare you a feast?"
It seems all to little for all that you've done,
for being away from your wife and your son."

Then his eyes welled a tear that held no regret,
"Just tell us you love us, and never forget.
To fight for our rights back at home while we're gone,
to stand your own watch, no matter how long.
For when we come home, either standing or dead,
to know you remember we fought and we bled.
Is payment enough, and with that we will trust,
that we mattered to you as you mattered to us.

I think we laserheads need a prayer of our own too... not a good writer, but maybe it should go something like this???

Lord, may my laser always fire and the settings be true...
Watch over my vent blower and air assist...

I am sure there is someone out there with the talent to put this in order!!!!
