The tree burns!

Sad news, did anyone else see the news? I'm sitting in a hotel down here in Fla. and the breaking news this morning was "The Senator," the oldest living Bald Cypress tree - some 3,500 years old - is burning from the top. There have been some localized wildfires going on around here. The helicopter shot made it look like a HUGE chimney fire as it was going up. Sad news. Maybe someone down here can salvage some woodturnings out of this thing.

If the burn isn't too bad, the tree may recover, especially if it's happening in the winter while the tree is in somewhat of a slumber.
