This is a maple hollow form that I turned for my Wife for Christmas. Didn't measure but would guess it is 12" across and 10" high. Blackwood collar. Only have two more blanks from this tree. Comments welcome!

Sparky,
That's a beautiful ... I mean beautiful piece of wood, great form from the angles I see. Get a decent backdrop for this photo and you've got yourself a killer. The fiddleback in that maple is really tight and prominent.

Sparky,
I love the way Maple can change colors so fast and you captured very it nicely. I really like the form and at 12" wide it will show well. Well Done!

Thanks all! This was some wonderful wood. I have turned 7 items out of it so far and have one more roughed out and one more blank. Hopefully I can find some more like it soon!

Tim: Yes I didn't bother draging out my light tent as I took these in a hurry this morning right before leaving for work. I was suprised that they came out as good as they did. Next time I have the tent out I will take some good pictures!

Sparky, I am not sure I have seen prettier wood!!! It is going to be a while before you find more wood like that. Beautiful form, too!

Great form and gorgeous wood Sparky! Can't say I love the collar to the same degree as the form, wood, and finish.

Fantastic wood and form, Sparky! The junction of the collar to the form looks a little 'rough' for lack of a better description... That's a pretty tiny nit to pick on such a striking piece! Your wife gets much better presents than mine!

Gorgeous wood and fine form. Hard to beat! I have to say that I think the collar is distracting. If you have two more pieces like this, you are a lucky man. Wood that nice does not come along very often.
