Any opinions on which 10" blades are better in the $20-$40 range. Both ripping and cross cutting.

Thanks in advance for the Help.

I've had good luck with the Freud's and Avanti 40t general purpose or 50t combo blade.

Personally, I prefer a 50t combo blade and a 24t ripping blade. The 50 will rip things < 1". The nice thing about the 50t combo vs the 40t general purpose is that some combos come with an atbr grind, which means it leaves a flat bottom. This can be useful if - like me - you want to cut the odd dado/rabbet with it.

Thin kerf is your friend for that saw. The best deals going IMHO are the German Onsrud blades being clearanced on Ebay. He still has some 50T ATB/R (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Onsrud-COM-10-098-50-10-Combination-Saw-Blade-/320827067376?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4ab2c88bf0#ht_1036wt_932) TK's for auction. Most are selling in the $21 range with free s/h. If you miss out, or prefer something else. The Freud Diablo blades are a good value, as are the CMT ITK Plus P10050, and the DeWalt Precision Trim DW7140PT and DW7150PT (http://www.amazon.com/DEWALT-DW7150PT-10-Inch-Combination-8-Inch/dp/B000HCZ4JS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1326335068&sr=8-1).

Prashun - The 50T ATB/R blades won't leave a truly flat bottom because the beveled teeth protrude slightly above the raker teeth, which leaves small grooves along the edge of the kerf....sort of like a dado set. They're "flatter" than most ATB grinds, but not "flat". Only a flat top grind (FTG) will leave a uniformly flat bottom across the whole kerf...those are most commonly found on low tooth count rip blades.

Me too on the Onsrud blades. Got the glue line rip and the combo. Just put the combo on the saw this week. Test cut was EXCELLENT. My first Onsruds. What a deal, and the free shipping wasn't bad either. $65.00 shipped for both.

You can get an excellent blade from Rocker for $40 right now. It is a Freud LU82M. It is an excellent crosscutting blade and ripping blade even on a contractor type saw. Exceptionally smooth cuts. Here is the tooth profile:219448

I do want to thank everyone for the excellent education and advice. I have a few of the Osran blades on bid right now...but my question on the Freud blade mentioned..is that a stamped or laser cut blade? I read something recently where the stamped blades resonate and are more apt to warp or flex during cutting.

Thanks

That is a laser cut blade Brent ....all that have been mentioned here so far are. Cheap stamped blades aren't worth a darn IMO. It's worth noting that the LU82 is a 60T full kerf triple chip grind (TCG) blade that'll pose more resistance for your saw than some of the others mentioned. IIRC, your 34-670 is a compact saw with a universal motor, correct?

Yes, that is correct...my saw is a 34-670 with the universal motor.

Scott, I know it's not perfect, but it's better than a straight ATB grind, and it's usually a very easy cleanup to get it truly flat. It's worked well enough for me. But I see your point.
