I have had a Hutchin 4500 series sander for a few years now and love it, but a few weeks ago though it started to leave the dreadful pig tails on the wood. I haven't changed the way I sand or the paper I use (3m gold hookit disc). I was hoping anyone on here might have some suggestions on why this might be happening. My air compressor is plenty big enough to run it and I am not pushing down on the sander, I am letting it do the work. Do the bearings ever go bad in these and if so has anyone ever replaced them? Thanks ahead of time.

Do you oil it before use?

I use Hutchins sanders in my shop and have not had that problem. As mentioned they do need to be oiled but I am sure you do that. I will be curious to see what you come up with just in case I come up with this situation.

FWIW, the Dynabrade rep told me to oil at the end of the day so that the oil can sit in there and not just get blown through.
