Very nice Mike. You segmenting guys turnout some really nice turnings. What is the bottom like, kind of looks like it my be solid dark wood?

Looks good, I'd like to take on my first segmented bowl/vase one of these days.

I do have a few questions:

What glue did you use?

Is that black wood ebony?

What does the center look like?

Very nice! Is it wedge or wenge?

Chris I use titebond glue on most of my segments the dark wood is wenge and the bottom is wenge.

John wenge has nice color dark brown with some lighter grain however it splinters bad and it doesn't take long to fester when you happen to run a piece of it in your finger very grainy

That is very well done Mike. Is that Maple or Yellowheart surrounding the Wenge on the verticals? I have 4 BF of Bubinga I have had for almost a year now trying to decided what to do with it. It is so heavy that I have hesitated making a bowl out of it, thing that I would just use it for accent pieces in a feature ring or something. Now I might have to reconsider.

Your vase looks great. The segments are well aligned and the colors look good together. The photos makes it look like it has very thick walls, but a very thin bottom. I would be interested in knowing what the actual thicknesses are. Overall, a nice looking vase.

Very nice work on the joinery! I like the color combo and your design pattern. Like Bob, I would be interested in knowing how thick the walls are.
