The wood for this bowl is from a silver maple that was lost in a storm this past summer. A co-worker gave the the wood, but it was a few months after the tree fell. I rough turned it in late September and it soon developed a couple of cracks. I was ready to throw it on the burn pile, but another co-worker told me to give it to him. He let it dry another couple of months and over Christmas he filled the cracks with black epoxy. This past week I finished turning it. It's about 11 inches wide and 5 1/4 inches high. Not too bad considering I had given up on it.

Very nice form to the bowl Greg! To bad about the cracks but it just adds to the 'lost in a storm' story! Nice save!!

When that sucker cracked - it CRACKED!! Great save, and great effort on the part of the co-worker. Very nice result.
