8 1/2 x2 1/2". Finish walnut grain filler on out side, transparent inside and bottom. Oil and wax topcoat. Lighting is a bit to yellow.

Allan, was the locust seasoned?? It can get hard as concrete! Nice work.

Don't know if this pic is much better, but should be a little closer.

I always knew locust made a great fence post but looks like it can be made into a great bowl also. Real nice job!

How do you like the grain filler effect? Did the surface get wavy after sanding? I find elm and locust to be very difficult to sand due to the alternating hard and soft areas in the rings. Turning that all in one go from dry stock must have been hot and dusty business, but worth it.

The filler worked very nice and came out pretty smooth on the sanding, Dan. I think that the Locust has a tighter grain pattern but also open pored. The walnut filler gave a very different effect than the transparent, emphases the open pore area but leaves it smooth..
