My first of the year! Spalting sometimes just doesnt end up like you hope. Some of it looks good, some of it turned out real blotchy..... Its about 7.5" dia x 3.5" tall. I am still drawn to the utilitarian simple bowl design, maybe I grow a bit in '12.
Comments welcome, thanks for looking (it sure felt good to get back into turning!!)

Welcome to turning in 2012! This spalting is great, and you did a great job on this I like the utilitarian, simple form. Is the bottom round? It looks like it. Great job.

Thanks!
Brian, I have a good friend who's father used to do woodworking for Disney and did ALOT of turning....well he gave me one of his coving gouges that he made in his shop and I wanted to try it out! Worked pretty good!
Eric, yes it is! Too round actually, I need to flatten it out a hair today, its my Webble Bowl .... It wobbles but wont fall down!!!!

Oak is not my favorite wood to turn but you did a great job on this one. I do like the spalting look.
