I like this stone

This is pure sharpening heresy I am sure, but I like this cheap stone. It came with set of inexpensive set of Japanese chisels but since I had a better set of stones so this one was set aside. I started using it again after the 1,000 was worn out and was surprised by how well it works. It is a 1,200 but more coarse than the 1,000 naniwa superstone and cuts faster. It stays flat well and I have no problems moving from it to the 5,000. The only down side is it requires soaking.

Get a slightly coarser diamond plate, and you can flatten this in your sink.

Looks big, too. That's a plus in my book...
